2023/24 literacy working group at  David Lubin
In case you missed the principal’s report at the November parent teacher group meeting, our school is taking a number of steps to improve literacy. And thanks to successful fundraising, our school hired three instructional aides to provide more small group instruction to students.

The literacy working group is being established to focus on student outcomes with particular attention on improving reading. Please reach out to the PTG at lubinptg@gmail.com to connect with the group.

At the District
District-wide teacher training in literacy called “LETRS” a program developed by Dr. Louisa Moats is being offered in the district.  In addition, the district is preparing for universal dyslexia screening coming in 2025.

In our community
Sacramento County Dept. of Education is running a number of literacy focused programs,  locally and statewide! Our local county department of education is well known for their capability and capacity to support school districts. Members of our working group are keeping up with their efforts to take best advantage of the support they offer schools.

If you are interested in leading, participating or just observing literacy efforts at our school please reach out. In addition if you have questions about literacy or dyslexia, we can connect you with more information.
