2024-2025 Candidates (listed alphabetically)

President

Kate Buehler

My name is Kate Buehler and I am running for PTG President for the 2024/25 school year.

I am currently a stay-at-home parent having worked in the medical field for many years.  I attended Cal Poly, SLO having studied Art & Design, along with many teachers and parents of Lubin students. Through work and a desire to create new experiences, I have been fortunate enough to travel the world and immerse myself in many different cultures.  I love that David Lubin is a place for ALL and we celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion in so many ways. I have a passion for creating exciting and memorable environments and want more than anything to see joy in students’ eyes when they enter the doors at David Lubin.  I take pride in fostering the many friendships I have made within our community – both with families as well as staff – and would like to build those relationships to get our community more involved in active participation. I have been a parent at David Lubin for 7 years and served on the PTG Board for three of those as Member-at-large and Parliamentarian, presently I have a 6th grader who will be attending Miwok Middle School next year and a 3rd grader who cannot wait to be an “upper classman.”  I love being involved at school and can be seen at almost every event the school hosts!

Nick Martin

As the current PTG President, my commitment is to ensure that all students benefit from the PTG’s valuable resources. This year’s board supported projects beyond our marquee events, including equipping teachers with enhanced reading techniques, funding instructional aides for literacy support, and securing funding for a research-based curriculum tailored for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Looking ahead, my vision encompasses even greater impact: hosting guest speakers, organizing field trips, improving communication between families and school staff, and championing equity and access for our diverse community. As a parent and former 3rd-grade teacher, I bridge the gap between home and classroom, understanding parents’ concerns and teachers’ challenges.
Your vote for me upholds the PTG’s legacy of providing engaging after-school activities, community events, and enriching subjects while supporting positive change for parents, teachers, and most importantly, our students.

Vice President

Beverly Garber

I have enjoyed participating in the PTG for the last 2 years as VP and member at large positions and I am eager to see David Lubin kids continue to thrive, learn, and experience the fun and joy that elementary school should provide. Seeing our kids run around the campus laughing, dancing and playing freely and safely at the PTG organized events these past few years makes me feel so proud to have my daughter (Gwen, 3rd grade) be a student at David Lubin. If elected, I hope to increase coordination of more field trips (on campus and off campus) and work towards strengthening our existing events so they may continue for many years to come!

I have three kids at David Lubin–Hazel (5th grade), Bo (3rd grade), and Abe (1st grade). I worked in education as a teacher and curriculum developer in New York, then went to medical school mid-career. I finished residency last summer and now work as a physician in the ER. I like cooking, swimming, and doing art projects with my kids. We also love to pack lunches for Mr. Scott’s lunch drives. I’m excited to have more time now that I’m done with residency, and I hope I can contribute to the school more.

Adam Glatt

I joined the PTG in 2023 in hopes of playing a more active and formative role in the betterment of not only my child’s David Lubin school journey but also that of his few students. Over the course of the 2023-2024 school year, I have had the joy of actively participating in, as well as learning from the PTG. I hope to continue my work within this wonderful organization, supporting the various chairs, providing ideas for advancement and continuing the positive growth of this talented group of parents.

My family and I relocated to Sacramento 3 years ago for Los Angeles. I am a small business owner, and my wife works in the fine wine space. Sacramento has provided us with an abundance of family-oriented opportunities we felt lacking elsewhere and in doing so, strengthened my families desire to share what we have come to love about Sacramento with others. We are a family of would-be farmers and aspiring chefs.

Justine Hearn

Hello Lubin families! My name is Justine and I’m running for an at-large position with our PTG. I have a first and fifth grader, and this year was our first year at Lubin. We’re so glad we landed here!

You may have seen me on campus working in our gardens or volunteering in the reading room. As a PTG representative I would like to help strengthen the connection between our gardens and STEAM program and get our students out in the gardens more, as well as support community-building events at school.

I’ve worked in public health, environmental and city planning, and enjoy camping, hiking, and board games with my family.

Thank you for considering me as one of your at-large PTG representatives.

It was a privilege to serve as one of the at-large members of the PTG this past year and I would like your support to be on the board again next year. My priority this year has been to work to make enrichment activities easily accessible to all Lubin students. I coordinated the DLASA coding and chess activities this spring and hope to do the same for both semesters next year. I also coached soccer for the DLFC program. My main goal for next year will be to continue these efforts to facilitate a broad range of enrichment activities. I also want to ensure that students who have not been able to access these activities get priority and that every student gets a chance to engage in a fun and enriching program.

Katie Riley

Katie Riley, mom of Riley Diers (3rd grade) and Sophie Diers (TK). I have grown to love this school and the community it represents. David Lubin has a special place in my heart. I look forward to making this school shine so my kids and their classmates have a school experience they’ll always cherish.
